My family and I just returned (1/01) from a fabulous vacation from Chicago to Vegas, Tucson, Wickenburg, and Phoenix (among other stops), but the highlight of the trip was definately in Wickenburg, AZ. This is not a stop for a meal, but a dude-ranch vacation destination at the "Flying E Ranch", which is located directly across the street from the Wickenburg Municipal Airport (E25). Check out their website at www.flyingeranch.com. The driveway to the lodge is 1.25 miles long, so if you give them a call, they'll pick you up. They only accomodate 30-35 people max, so it's never crowded like other ranches in the area. The rooms are all extemely clean and cozy with all the comforts of home. Chow-time, whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner is included, and every meal reminds you of going to Grandma's on the holidays!

Great food!

After breakfast and/or lunch, you can go out horseback riding on their 21,000 acre ranch, or sit in or around the heated pool or spa. A basketball court and tennis court are also provided. The competent wranglers are real cowboys, and the most pleasant and helpful I have ever met. In fact, all the employees were wonderful! I went out for 5 or 6 rides, and never the same route. You can choose scenic, intermediate, or advanced rides. There are many other activities at the ranch, so check out their website for more info and pictures. This is the first vacation destination that my three children & 17), my wife, and myself have all agreed to hurry back to! It was GREAT!
