I haven't been keeping up to date on this subject but my most memorable airport is Johnson Creek Airport in Idaho. It is near the town of Yellow Pine. The forest service used to have Dodge power wagons you could rent to get into town. You cannot believe how beautiful the stars are out there in the middle of nowhere!

The approach is something to remember too - not dangerous, but you fly up the canyon from Yellow Pine and don't see the runway until 20 seconds before you touch down. The runway is very forgiving as it is grass and also uphill. the altitude is close to 5000 ft.
